Linen Shorts

Kids Clothes Week is coming to an end, and I wanted to jot a few of my thoughts on this week.

Here are the things I have taken away from KCW:

  • It has been so nice sewing for my kids.  As I have spent an hour (or hours) each day sewing for the kiddos I have been reflecting on them and praying for them.  I need to do that more often.
  • I love sewing for my kids and want to do more of it while they still like my handmade goods.  Amazingly they have loved everything I have made them this week.
  • Alright, here is my one bad thing.  I cannot be an everyday blogger.  It has been great to share with you all of my creations, but I put way too much pressure on myself to do this daily.  Next week, I will be back to blogging once or twice a week.

Are you ready now for my last KCW item?  I made Bubba some shorts.  I simply traced around a pair of shorts he owned and actually used a pattern piece from Sweet Pea’s blue floral shorts for the pockets.  These shorts are just…okay.  The fit isn’t perfect, the pockets are a tight squeeze for Bubba to put his hands in, and overall, I’m just not in love.  After finishing them, I decided to buy Dana’s new shorts pattern.  At only $6 I couldn’t justify trying to fix my self drafted pattern!  I’ve already printed the pattern out and have started taping it together.Linen Shorts

I’m looking forward to the next KCW…it’s been fun!Linen shortsLinen Shorts

  1. The best thing about sewing for my daughter is that I get to think about her so much! I really should use this quiet time and also pray for her – what a great idea 🙂 I think the shorts turned out great. If little people love what we make, that’s what really matters, right? These gorgeous little souls say it as it is. No room for stinking political correctness hehe

These shorts look great! I hear you on the blog thing – I don’t know how people make items, photograph them, and still have time to manage everyday tasks without having a meltdown.

Thanks Renee…it’s nice to hear I’m not alone. I need to do what I can do!

Thanks Jenya! I love how honest kids are.

I love the colors and style of the shorts! Hopefully they are at least a little wearable. I agree on the reflecting on your kids while sewing for them–Little Man is such a unique character, and I love thinking about his interests and joys and how I can tie those onto what I make for him. It makes me appreciate his personality all the more! 🙂

Thanks…every year my kids get older i say this is my favorite age. I hope I keep saying that as they grow!
